The types of cable branch boxes are divided into two categories according to their electrical composition: one type does not contain any switch equipment, and only has accessories for processing and connecting cable wall heads inside the box, with a relatively simple structure, small volume, and single function, which can be called ordinary branch boxes; the other type contains not only accessories of ordinary branch boxes, but also one or more switch equipment inside the box, with a complex structure, large volume, many connector components, difficult manufacturing technology, and high cost, which can be called advanced branch boxes.
Ordinary cable branch box:
There is no switch device in the ordinary branch box, and the incoming and outgoing lines are electrically connected together with the same potential, suitable for tap or branch wiring. Usually, the number of incoming lines plus the number of outgoing lines is called the branch number. For example, a three branch cable branch box has three equipotential connection points on each phase, which can be used as one in two out or two in one out. The TV branch box contains U, VW three-phase circuits with the same structure, arranged in sequence together.
Advanced cable branch box:
The advanced branch box contains switch devices, which can serve as both tap and branch devices for ordinary branch boxes, as well as control, convert, and change the operation mode of power supply circuits. The switch break roughly divides the cable circuit into the incoming and outgoing sides, and the potentials on both sides can be different. The switchgear itself has a large volume, so the external dimensions of the advanced branch box are relatively large, with a height of generally 1.4~1.8m and a depth of 0.9~1.0m. The length depends on the number of switchgear contained, mostly between 1.0m and 2.4m. The appearance of the box body is similar to that of an outdoor box type transformer, with several movable doors on the box shell. Some doors are designed for the operation of switchgear, while others are designed for the installation, construction, or maintenance of cable connection devices.
