The 2025 Hanoi Offshore Wind Power Exhibition in Vietnam is a groundbreaking event that serves as a platform to showcase the latest advancements in equipment and technology in the offshore wind power industry. This exhibition brings together key participants, industry experts, and innovators to showcase their cutting-edge solutions and products that are reshaping the country's renewable energy landscape.
During the expo, exhibitors have the opportunity to explore a variety of exhibits, including state-of-the-art turbines, floating platforms, specialized vessels, and other offshore wind infrastructure. Companies from around the world showcased their solutions aimed at improving the efficiency, sustainability, and overall performance of offshore wind power projects.
In addition to impressive displays, the expo also hosts informative seminars, workshops, and group discussions led by industry leaders, where attendees can gain valuable insights into the latest trends, best practices, and upcoming developments in offshore wind technology.
The 2025 Vietnam South Sea Wind Power Exhibition plays a crucial role in promoting cooperation and partnerships between local and international stakeholders, driving the growth of renewable energy in the region. By showcasing innovative equipment and technology, this event has accelerated the development of offshore wind power projects and contributed to creating a greener and more sustainable future for the country.
Market Introduction
The coastline of Vietnam is 3000 kilometers long and has enormous potential for offshore wind power development, with a technically exploitable capacity of about 160GW. The National Power Development Plan VIII (PDPVIII) announced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam includes 35 potential offshore wind power projects, and also proposes to increase the installed wind power capacity from 600MW in 2020 to over 11-12GW by 2030.
At present, wind power in the South Vietnam Sea is located in the intertidal zone near the sea, with a single unit capacity of 3-5MW. The main types of unit foundations include single pile foundations, high pile cap foundations, and PHC pile group foundations. The types of vessels used for offshore wind power construction mainly include crane ships, transport barges, anchor boats, tugboats, and transport ships.
Due to the early development of wind power in the South China Sea and the scarcity of supporting ship resources, it is difficult for domestic ship machinery to be suitable for offshore construction. For large ships used for single pile sinking construction and unit installation, including installation ships, floating cranes, etc., it is recommended to introduce them from China to Vietnam. Currently, there are large offshore wind power lifting and installation ships in Vietnam, including HY56, HY86, HY87, DNQ9, ZR1500, Yuegong barge 38, Guangzhou, etc. Among them, HY56, DNQ9, ZR1500, etc. are planned to return to China before the end of 2021.
In addition to Vietnam, there is also a type of barge that transports single piles or unit components that is leased from Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore and Indonesia. The barge and tugboat are rented together, and a project will lease more than 6-8 barges for a long time to transport and store steel pipe piles or unit components. The anchor system renovation requires dozens of anchor machines, and Vietnam does not have a large number of anchor machines in stock. Purchasing a complete set of equipment including anchors and anchor machines, wire ropes, generators, circuits, etc. from China in advance and transporting them to Vietnam will save a lot of costs and time for renovation locally.
Vietnam has ambitious medium - and long-term planning goals for offshore wind power, and this market will continue to be a focus for Chinese companies for a considerable period of time in the future.
